Over a 3 year period I worked on a multitude of projects for BCG. From leading the design and implementation of numerous responsive microsites, to contributing to overall design and content on the new BCG.com, to overseeing, art directing, and animating multiple motion graphics projects. This page shows a few of the projects I had the privilege to work on with an amazing team at Carbone Smolan Agency.
Parametric Art
BCG’s many business units focus on different industries all around the world. Each practice area produces a huge number of communications each year and BCG needed to visually differentiate them all, without resorting to cliché stock photography. We partnered with generative artist Reza Ali to create a tool for BCG.
Each image is created by translating the words from each practice area’s mission statement into a visual output. By adjusting parameters we “curated” the art, resulting in over 50 unique pieces of parametric art. Hear from the maker, Reza below in a promotional video I directed.
As part of a global recruiting campaign we defined a photojournalist approach to photography for BCG. We followed 4 consultants for 24 hours across 4 different continents. To avoid the expected corporate headshots and elevate photography for BCG into an artform, we worked with acclaimed Magnum photographer Paolo Pellegrin. I was responsible for art directing the multi-continent shoot, overseeing the process from concept to delivery.
As an avid photographer and filmmaker myself, I took the opportunity to capture a BTS perspective of the shoot. A selection of shots can be seen below. To hear Paolo’s perspective on the project and to see b-roll I shot, click here.
Created while at Carbone Smolan Agency. Team including: Paul Pierson, Kimiyo Nakatsui, Matt Hallock, Dave Decepida, Helen Dear, , Daniel Irizarry, Stephen Kistner, Jaime Patino-Calvo, Katie Sharrow-Reabe, Brittany Messenger, and Sarah Lowndes.
